53nce Yugoslavia has more weaving mills than spinning mills, she has to
import yarn instead of cotton or x001 top.
At the end of 1949 a new cotton spinning mill began production in 7agreb.
It is nox operating oa three shifts. '~
In Tetovo, s large spinning mill will be completed this year. It:ie a
component of a 'large wool combine.
Some ..time ago, construction was begun on a large cotton spinning mill with
20,000 spindles in Kosmet Oblast.
Recently, the construction of an even larger cotton-spinning mill was be-
gun in?'the vicinity of CaplJina in Herzegovina. This will be one of the largest
spinning mills in Yugoslavia. It will have 40,000 spindles and will employ 200
workers. The equipment for the mill is ready for installation as soon ae the
mill is completed which should be before the end of this year. The mill, which
is scheduled to be in operation at the beginning of next year, will process
cotton produced chiefly in Herzegovina, which has developed into the second
largest cotton-growing region i.n Yugoslavia.
WOOL INDUSTRY PROJECTS BUILT IN GORSKI KOTAR -- Slovenski Porocevalec, No 139a

This year, several construction proJecta have been started in Gorski Kotar,
Croatia, especially along the Karlovac-R1~eka railroad line. The first large
proJecte of the lumber combine in Delnice, such as the sawmill were constructed
in 1949, while this year a steam plant and drying shop are bei.;, erected. Within
this combine, a box factory is also being built; it is scheduled to be virtually
completed this year.

Recently, the construction of the foundation for a furniture factory be-
longing to this combine was begun. Another furniture factory is being built
in Vrbovako.
TO MAKE GLASS FRODS ANTIMONY SLAG -- Slovenski Porocevalec, No 127, 30 May 90
The large antimony ore smelter in Za~aca in West Siberia has huge amounts
of slag which have not been put to use thus far.
Olga Bradic, a chemist, was ordered to study possibilities of processing
this slag for colored glass and glean containers. The dark glass made from
antimony slag was found.to be effective as wall sheathings. However, it was
found to be inferior for the production of glass containers.
Yugoslavia's yearly production of glass containers amounts to 8,000 tons.
This year's production will be 11,500 tons.
PRODUOES NEW DENTAL DRILLS -- Borba, No 136, 11 Jun 50
Novi Sad, 10 June -- The "Jugodent" Dental Instrument Factory in Novi Sad
recently manufactured the prototype of a new electrical dental drill, the serial
production of which will begin shortly. All its parts will be produced from
domestic materials.
