Wojewodztwos.. So far, 190 "loci" of this pest have been discovered. In the
le.Qt few days, the beetle has penetrated to the Leborski Powiat in tae Gdansk
Wojewodztvo..
The first larvae of the beetle eggs were hatched on 10 June 1950. The
Ministry of Agriculture and A,ricultural Reform recommends a thorough inspec-
tion of the potato fields with special attention to beetle eggs and larvae.
The threatened areas are constantly watched and protected by chemical
sprays. A.protective belt 170 kilometers long has been sprayed from the air
in the Szczecin Wojewodztwo where the danger is the greatest.

The potato beetle continues to plague the Szczecin, Poznan, and Wroclaw
SET UP ANTIPEST COMMISSION -- Zycie Warszawy, No 165, 17 Jun. 50
The State Economic Planning Commission has set up a commission to study
and coordinate the production of chemice,19 to destroy tree insects. Engr S.
Zajac was appointed chairman of the commission under the Six-fear Plan. The
commission will work out measures to control the potatl. beetle, the grain
weevil, the tent caterpillar, and other pests.
