Ullyanov-Lenin Submitted 28 March 19+9 ZT-lie physical coast=ts of the phosphorous acid esters listed be- low are of interest, because compounds of this ^eneral type may exhib- it specific toxic properties or serve as intermediates in the prepara- tion of toxic compounds. This refers to a potentiality rather than M. actual intention on the part of the Russian investigators. No actual intention to conduct work with the view of synthesizing toxic crmpounds has been mentioned in the article In order to determine the pjssibility of applying the group-correction method used in the case of five- and six-membered rings of carbocyclic compounds to the calculation of the parachora of heterocyclic compounds as well, the parachors of a number of cyclic esters of carbonic, sulfurous, and phosphorous acids were com- puted. The group method (in which the parachors of individual groups of a ring are simply added) was found to be comp'.etely applicable for five-u and. six-membered and heterocyclic rings containing an atom of oxygen, oxygen phosphorus in the ring. The group values were determined for the parachors of the following groups contained in the rings: - 1 STATE ARMY AIR _ SECRET DISTRIBUTION 50X1-HUM Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2011/08/17: CIA-RDP80-00809A000600340275-9 Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2011/08/17: CIA-RDP80-00809A000600340275-9 SECRET Cyclic Esters of Phosphorous Acid (C)-0 (C)-0 (C)-0 \S = 0 \o(c) C0 (C) C) 0/ (C) -0/ -0~ ( - The author and his co-worker determined the parachors of four esters which V.
