Investigate aquatic biology as an aid in the development of marine
products, and with a view to the establist~ent of a marine biological laborn~-
tory at Taingtao, and fresh sister biological research laboratory at T'ai Hu.
Study uses of various kinds of plants; the actual utilization of the
nation's botanical resources; continue work on the North China Botanical Cata-
log.

Physiolog,~ of embryology; physiology of plant life; entomology.
9. Institute of Physiobiochemistry
Physiology of muscles and nerves; antiseptic chemistry.
10. Institute of Geophysics
Meteorology; terrestrial magnetism; seismology; geophysical prospecting.

Organization not yet determined; the Industrial Experimental Labora-
tory at Shanghai will study ceramics and metallurgy.

Collate the results of all kinds of past research; carry on important
excavations.

Compile modern Chinese history; revise the Abridged General History

A beginning is to be made in the training of young scsentista. During
1950, 100 university graduates are to be engaged as research fellows. This
conference is regarded as having paved the way for future scientific research
by setting up a skeleton organization and adopting provisional regulations for
the employment of research personnel and technicians.
