35 degrees centigrade in Novo Mesto. Today, the barometric pressure was. 735.2
millimeters at 0700 hours in L3ubl~ana; temperature, 15 degrees centigrade;
humidity, 90 percent.

REPORTS HEAVY RAINFALL -- L,jubl,jana Slovenski Porocevalec, 8 Aug 50
During the last few days, much rain fell in almost all of Yugoslavia. The
rainfall was especially heavy in the Vo3vodina 2 days ago. Twenty-four milli-
meters of rain fell on that day in the Srem. The Vojvodina is still covered with
clouds, and more rain is expected. There were also several shower- in Croatian.
Much rain fell in the vicinity of Slavoneki Brod, Varazdin, and Bi~elovar. From
3 to 4 centimeters of rain have fallen in Slavonia and the Baran~e. There was
less rain in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The rain was especially beneficial to corn,
sugar beets, hemp, and sunflowers in the Vojvodina.
The corn crop in the Vojvodina was badly damaged by the drought. Now the
rain has improved it. The rain was also beneficial to corn, sugar beets, live-
stock fodder, and vegetables in Slavonia and the Baran~a. In Croatia, the rain
was especially beneficial to meadows and pastures. According to experts, the
corn crop in Croatia will be completely revived.
The other republics also benefited by the rain.
