Bristles, tea, and raw silk producers, whose business has been in the doldrums for some time, have been specially aided. Stabilization of prices and ad,justmer_t of the relations between publicly operated and privately operated enterprises has resulted in a spurt in Hankow trade. Imports amounted to 58.49 percent and exports 41.51 percent of the to- tal trade for Hankow. There was an increase in the value of private imports over last month of 47.8 percent. Private enterprises provided 90.27 percent of the goods destined for foreign export during July (a 42.23 percent increase over June) whereas publicly operated enterprises showed a decline in foreign export trade to only 9.73 percent of the total.
