TRACTOR STATIONS TO BE DISCONTINUED -- Ljubljana Slovenski Porocevalec,
21 Sep 50
Tractor stations have already been discontinued in several parts of Yugo-
slavia, especially in the Vojvodina, The tractors and other farm machinery were
distributed to cooperatives and state farms. Cooperatives in the Vojvodina were
given 1,350 tractors and the same number of plows and sowers. Threshing machines
and binders will be distributed later.
Tractor stations will be discontinued in other sections of Yugos~tvia by
the end of 1950 at the latest. These stations will continue to operate in Slo-
venia during the fall harvesting and will be discontinued immediately afterward.
GIVES CROP-PURCHASE SCHEDULE -- Belgrade Sluzbeni List, 6 Sep 50
In 1951, government crop-purchasing agencies will purchase.meat, unfattened
hogs, fats (lard, butter), milk, dairy products, and wool.
In the economic year 1951 - 1952, these agencies will purchase grain, po-
tatoes, legumes (peas, beans, and lentils), olive oil, and hay.
Production and purchase contracts for industrial plants will be regulated
by the chairman of the Economic Council in cooperation with the Chairman of the
Council for the Turnover of Goods.
CURTAIL RECLAMATION PLAN -- Ljubljana Slovenski Porocevalec, 22 Sep 50
The reclamation plan in Slovenia has been curtailed because of a shortage
of manpower and machinery. Reclamation in Prekmurje will be suspended indefi-
nitely. Reclamation will continue in the Psata and Lijak areas. However, the
1950 reclamation plan for the Psata area will be fulfilled by only 80 to 85 per-
cent because of a manpower shortage. From 350 to 400 hectares of land on the
left bank of the Psata River will be protected from floods this year.

PURCHASE OF LIVESTOCK, FATS SUCCESSFUL -- Ljubljana Slovenski Porocevalec,

According to the latest data, government purchasing agencies for Osijek
Oblast have thus far purchased 624,272 kilograms of fats, fulfilling this
year's plan by 62 percent.
Hog breeders in Osijek Oblast have delivered thus far more than 19,600
unfattened hogs to government purchasing agencies and thus have fulfilled
this year's plan by 80 percent.
SHEEP BREEDING SUCCESSFUL IN MACEDONIA --'Ljubljana Slovenski. Porocevalec,

At. the end of 1949, Macedonian cooperatives owned more than 650,000
sheep and Macedonian state farms over 100,000 sheep. The Five-Year Plan fox
the increase of sheep in Macedonia has been completed thus far by 90 percent.
Government purchasing agencies purchased about 100 tons more wool in the re-
public this year than in 1949. This year, 23,000 hectares of land were sowed
with cotton and over 10,aillion kilograms of artificial fertilizer were spread
over Macedonian cotton fields.
