PORK PRODUCTION RISES -- Prague Hospodar, 27 Jul 50
Meat production has risen considerably. In all of Czechoslovakia, 349,972
Quintals of meat were produced in Marc'- '950, as compared with 446,910 quintals
in December 1949 and a monthly average of 314,247 quintals in 1936.,
In March 1950 Czechoslovakia produced 55,680 quintals of lard, as compared
with 62,724 quintals in December 1949 and an average of 58,742 quintals per
month in 1936.
The largest increase was in the production of pork. In March 206,362 quin-
tals were produced, as compared with 276,251 quintals in December 1949 and a
monthly average of 128i546 quintals in 1936.
FACTORY PROCESSES 21 CARLOADS OF MEAT MONTHLY -- Prague Hospodar, 27 Jul 50
The meat- and fat-processing factory of the feeding combine in Smirice has
a monthly production capacity of 21 carloads of pork. Its daily production
amounts to 7 quintals of meat. In June the factory delivered to market 25,200
kilograms of pork with an 85-percent useful yield and a 33.6-percent fat yield.
The average daily weight increase for pigs weighing 120 kilograms is 77
decagrams, and for pigs weighing 135 kilograms 80 decagrams daily. Some of the
pigs gain as much as 1.30 kilograms per day.
REPORT FOOD PRICES DECLINE -- Zuerich Die Tat, 11 Sep 50
The Czechoslovak Minister of Internal Trade has announced a decline in
food prices. According to his statement, one kilogram of salami costs 700
crowns, the same amount of sugar 140 crowns, and of ham 400 crowns, while one
liter of salad oil costs 220 crowns.
