MINORITY YOUTH GROUPS FEDERATE IN NORTHWEST --Peiping Kuang-ming Jih-pao,

Sian, 12 August (Hain-hua) -- A concrete plan to unite the youth of dif-.
ferent minority nationality groups in Northwest China was formulated at the
Third Northwest Youth Delegates Conference, held in Sian 30 July - 6 August 1950.
Some 361 delegates representing 12 minority nationalities attended the con-
ference. Of the delegates, 39 were war heroes or model workers, and others repre-
sented more than 700,000 organized youth in the Northwest.
The conference formally established the Northwest. Democratic Youth Federa-
tion and appointed Lo I (1) fumbe_?s refer to appended character; chairman;
Sai-fu-la-yeh-fu (2), Wang Wei-ch'i (3), and Ma T'eng-ai (I), deputy chairmen,
in addition to 57 executive committee members. The federation also adopted a
constitution.
The conference decided that the immediate tasks of the federation were to:
arouse the entire I- million youths in the Northwest to participate in produc-
tion and construction activities and to join study classes; urge the young in-
tellectuals-to acquaint themselves with the minority nationalities policies,
the revolutionary theories of the Central People's government and the CCP; and
propagandize among their own racial groups, the spirit of equality, unity,
mutual aid, and love of comrades.
ORGANIZES FRIENDSHIP COMMITTEE'-- Hong Kong Wen-hui Pao, 23 Jul 50
Sian, 20 July (Hsin-hua) -- A Moslem Han Friendship Committee was recently
formed in Huang-ni-wan Ts'un of Lin-hsia Hsien, Kansu Province, to bring about
unity between the two groups in accordance with the nationalities policy of-the
Central People's government.

In the past, the reactionary Ma regime constantly caused dissension between
the two groups. Since the liberation, the local CCP committee's working teams
have carried on a propaganda, campaign to promote better relations between the
two groups and have succeeded in forming the friendship committee.
The principal functions of the committee are to: find amicable solutions
to disputes, promote cooperation between the two groups to help each other in
disaster areas, and increase production.
