FAR NORTH SCHOOLS GET PHYSICS INSTRUMENTS -~- Leningradskaya Pravda, 12 Aug 50
The trade mark "Elektrodelo" of the Leningrad Elektrodelo Plant is well
known to school teachers. It appears on demonstration apparatus and handbooks
throughout the country.
The plant has recently increased its output and broadened the range of its
products. Among the new items is a radiometer, an instrument for graphic dem-
onstration.- of the action of heat rays, and a vacuum scale, consisting of a
set of glass tubes under different degrees of vacuum. Another interesting de-
vice iS a high-?frequency transformer which produces miniature lightning for
class study.
Many interesting physics instruments have been sent to schools in the
Far North.
UZBEK OFFICE DECENTRALIZES ELECTRICAL SUPPLY -~ Pravda Vostoka, 3 Aug 50
The Uzbek Republic Office of the Main Administration for Sale of Products
of the Electrical Industry hereby notifies all ministries, organizations, and
enterprises of Union or Republic level that it is converting to the syetem of
decentralized supply, and that in connection with this conversion it is now
accepting orders for all electrical installation parts and lighting equipment
which will be needed by enterprises during the year 1951. Deadline for the

NEW MEPHOD ELIMINATES REJECTS -- Vechernyaya Moskova, 12 Aug 50
In competitions in honor of the Peace Watch, the Moscow Searchlight
Plant won first place is its rayon and third place in the Ministry of the
Electrical Industry.
In the course of an economy drive new cutting methods were adopted
and waste materials were carefully utilized. Hundreds of kilograms of
sheet iron were saved, from which parts were made for the generator shop.
This enabled the shop to pledge 25 above-plan generators in August.
A new technology Por making transformer coils was worked out which com-
pletely eliminated rejects. Rejects under the old method were as high as 50
percent. The new method also doubled labor productivity.
PUT OUT 8,000 BULBS PER SHIFT -- Moscow Komsomol'skaya Pravda, 3 Aug 50
One brigade at the Lvov Electric Bulb Plant, which consists of 30 ,
young men and women, turns out 8,000 bulbs per r:hift. Its norm is 5,750 bulbs.
MAKES GENERATOR STABILIZERS -- Moskovskiy Komsomolets, 5 Aug 50
The Moscow Electrical Machinery Plant of Glavsel'elektro (Main Adminis-
tration of Electrical Equipment) produces generator stablizers for rural power
stations.
