PLANT NEGLECTS EQUIPMENT, ORGANIZATION -- Yerevan Kommuniat, 10 Aug 50
Most of the industrial enterprises in the Armenian SSR are aucceasfully~
meeting their pledges for early completion oP their 5-year plane. Some have
exceeded their 6-month plans. However, the Alaverdi Chemical Plant fulfilled
only 91.6 percent of its 6-month plan.
In spite of adequate raw .materiel and man power, the acids shop hes not
been working at full capa;;ity., It has not fulfilled its monthly plans since
the beginning of the year, and it completed only 93.4 percent of its 6-month
plan,. It has also been working poorly during the third quarts;,
The reason for this situation is failure to take proper care of equipment
and machines, They have to be repaired frequently, and their?productivity is
redur.ed< As yet, engineering-technical workers at the plant have not been able
to settle the problem of full utilization of converter gas. Suggestions for
perfecting this process have not been giver: sufficient [sl,oeiitiau.
The shop has na organized econoW, drive; raw materials are kept outside
where they deteriorate; there is too great a drain on auxiliary materials; and
one of the refrige~atars i:s out oP orderD Infringements of the technological
processes which are permitted lead to serious overconsumption of raw materials.
The sulfuric acid shop completed only 71.2 percent of its 6-month plan.
Since it has no organized plan for, first-quality output, production costa ex-
ceed the established norm,
The planning department does not function properly or in good time; the
administration shows no inclination to get the plant out of its plight, and
the party organization is reconciled to the existing situation. -- Kh. 'Aatsak-
yan, shift foreman ,

Through their o?.m innovations, workers at the Yerevan Carbide Plant are
pP.-FPrtin~ rro9uction, mer_hanizing labor processes, and increasing the produc-
tivity of machines
Without stopping the carbide furnace, workers of the carbide shop did
away with the vapor lock, This resulted in great savings. Much iron wea
saved by changing the design of electrode cases Attachments were produced
which give warning wren elevator shafts become obstructed or when materials
are defective; devices which insure safe operation of crushers also have been
developed.
The Yerevan Bichromate Plaat is increasing production output day by day.
It has attained high production indexes in its 7-month plan, and has saved a
great deal of raw materials and power.
