REPORT PARTISAN ACTION, SABOTAGE IN HUNGARY Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2011/07/22 : CIA-RDP80-00809A000600360076-8 RESISTANCE GROUP ATTACKS USSR STORE -- Munich, Hungaria, 8 Sep 50 It is reported by a reliable source, that on 2 August, a Hungarian re- sistance group of 15 attacked a Soviet military store in the vicinity of Villany, killed the five members of the USSR guard, includin;., a sergeant, and took 150 automatic pistols and rifles and large quantities of ammuni- tion and food rations. The Soviet press has made no mention of the attack. Well-informed and reliable diplomatic sources report that Soviet secret police arrested the entire supply complements of three Soviet companies when it was learned that they had sold large quantities of weapons and ammunition to a Hungarian anti-Communist movement. According to reports, the arrests occurred during the past 2 weeks. Many USSR officers and noncommissioned officers have committed suicide to avoid arrest. The Soviet soldiers are charged with selling to the Hungarian under- ground 350 automatic pistols with 10,000 clips of ammunition, 200 rifles with 1,400 magazines, 1,400 hand grenades, and three machine guns with 10,000 clips of ammunition. The facts were discovered by the Hungarian political police who arrested certain persons found to have USSR weapons and ammunition in their possession. The companies of the arrested. supply personnel are reportedly stationed in the Mecsek Mountains, near Villany and Mohacs. Two hundred P'ungarian citi- zens have been arrested in connection with the sale and concealment of the weapons. Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2011/07/22 : CIA-RDP80-00809A000600360076-8 7 CBIAL AMMUNITION TRAIN EXPLODES -- Paris, Szabad Vilag, 10 Aug 50 A series of terrific explosions rocked the dwellings of Baja in the early mc,.ning of 13 June, when an ammunition train exploded in the railroad station. Following the explosion, the inhabitants of Baja were not allowed to enter or approach the station, even for scheduled trains. The station building was heavily damaged as a result of the explosion. The number of casualties has not yet been determined. Soviet troops have occupied the station. QUASH DISTURBANCES AT HATVAN MUNITION WORKS --- Paris, Szabad Vilag, 10 Aug 50 A USSR munitions factory disguised under the name of Kozetfeltaro State Enterprise is in operation near Hatvan, Disturbances among the several th:u- sand workers o. the plant are a daily occurrence, and order is maintained only through terrorism practiced by the State Security Authority. Toward the end of July, more than 30 workers charged with methodically lowering morale and offering particularly bad examples in their production were deported to the USSR. On the day they were taken away, two munition stores exploded. SABOTAGE IN OBUDA TEXTILE FACTORY -- Paris, Szabad Vilar, 10 Aug 50 In the first week of July, water taps were left running in the women's rooms of the Goldberger textile dyeing and finishing shop at Obuda. The water soaked through the ceiling and ruined several million forints worth of commodi- ties stored in racks on the ground floor. During the same week, little rivets were mysteriously placed in the ma- chinery of the cylindrical press with the result that finished material was torn along its entire length. Also, the spoilage in this factory is twice that of last year. RIOT OVP? NEW MINING NORMS Paris, Szabad Vilag, 1.0 Aug 50 There is general dissatisfaction with the new production norms in the Pecs mine fields. Work stopped for hours in several mine shafts while the miners beat up the representative of the Labor Union Center, who was explaining the new wage scale.
