THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION ANESTHETIC REDUCES SWELLING IN THROAT DISEASES -- Berlin, Nachrichten fuer Aussenhandel, 16 Sep 50 The Fahlberg-List Organs Chemical Plant in Magdeburg has developed a new anesthetic with a particularly strong effect. It reduces swelling in diseases of the throat or larynx and in inflammation of the nose and throat, and is es- ecially effective in penetrating deeply. This new anesthetic also shows'fa- able results in treating tuberculosis of the throat and larynx and even bronchial cancer. It can also prevent colds with certainty. Use of this anesthetic has also been successful in the dental field, and ,Y;as resulted in three new dental preparations. The strong anesthetic power of the preparations 'will make, the nerve of a tooth fully insensitive, which will permit the removal of the nerve withou'. pain. The effect of the new anesthetic is;;sp.great that injections can be avoided in case of a loose tooth; spreading q ,of the new preparations on the mucous membrane suffices. The new prepara- tions have also been successful in curing gum diseases. The Halle/Saale and lostock Pharmacological Institutes have appr- :d the preparations. The Fahlberg-List plant will market the preparations under the trade names "Falipulpln," "Falimun," and "Falicid" within a short time. In addition, a new .injection preparation to be used for tooth extraction will be introduced within aijew months. This preparation will avoid painful aftereffects and the danger of shock, especially when the patient has a weak heart, CAN LIQUEFY OXYGEN IN ANY QUANTITY DESIB?-- Berlin, Taegliche Rundschau, 29 Sep 50 Meltendorf, an engineer at the Piesteritz Nitrogen Plant, has developed a new process for liquefying oxygen. The process makes it possible to liquefy oxygen in any quantity desired, whereas the customary process allows only a lim- ited quantity to be taken from the'air-separation apparatus. The increasing de- mand for oxygen for carrying out the Five-Year Plan can now be met by the Pie- steritz Plant, Supply no longer depends on the costly transportation of oxygen flasks. Engineer Meltendorf also succeeded in raising the purit~ of oxygen from 97.6 to 99.2 percent. -1-ti Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2011/07/22 : CIA-RDP80-00809A000600360211 Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2011/07/22 : CIA-RDP80-00809A000600360211-7 TO START HYDROGENATION OF COAL -- Berlin, Nachrichten fuer Aussenhandel, 9 Sep 50 Within the Five-Year Plan, the hydrogenation department of the Leuna Plant will change over to the hydrogenation of cual. This will result in improving the quality of synthetic gasoline, which is an important export item. The ethane obtained thereby will be used as a basic material for lubricants, while the phe- nols will be used for producing plastics, pharmaceuticals, and lactam. BUNA CHEMICAL WORKS ADVERTISE PRODUCTS -- Berlin, Export Echo, No 6, Jun 50 The Buns. Chemical Works in Schkopau/Merseburg advertise the following items in the periodical Export Echo!
