FINISH CONSTRUCTION OF FIRST COMMERCIAL VESSEL -- Berlin, Taegliche Rund-
schau, 20 Sep 50
The first commercial vessel of the German Democratic Republic has been
completed in the Staatswex'ft Stralsund Shipyard and is to be put into serv-
ice on 13 October 1950. The 1,350-ton ship, to be christened Vorwaarts,
will serve as a freighter but will be used simultaneously as a training ship
for crews of the East German merchant fleet,
TO PRODUCE EQUIPMENT FOR LZGERS -- Berlin, Nachrichten fuer Aussenhandel,
20 Sep 50
The people-owned Control Apparatus Plant in Pirna-Coppitz will start
production of control switches for East Germany's fleet of luggers in 1951.
Production will include electric switches for ship's engines and lighting
systems.
The people-owned Precision Instrument Plant in Freiberg will turn out
6,000 sextants for the luggers in 1951, while 1+80 are to be turned out by
the end of 4950,
