Construction Materials Industry Belorussian SSR -- tiles and unfired bricks; Ministry of Timber and Paper Industry Belorussian SSR -- paper, matches, plywood, and logging; Ministry of Local Industry Belorussian SSR -- cast-iron pipes, horse- drawn plows, furnace-molding products, construction nails, dishware, knit outer= wear and underwear, brici.s, lime, tiles, footwear, and leather goods. The Council of Industrial Cooperatives Belorussian SSR and the Belorussian Union of Invalids' Cooperatives failed to meet the plan for quantitative production of the majority of products. The following ministries and administrations, while increasing the 9-month volume of capital construction as compared with 1949, failed to fulfill the third-quarter 1950 plan; Ministry of Timber and Paper Industry Belorussian SSR, Ministry of Meat and Dairy Indus- try Belorussian SSR, Main Administration of Fiah Industry under the Council of Ministers Belorussian SSR, Ministry of Agriculture Belorussian SSR, Ministry of State Farms Belorussian SSR, Ministry of Land Development Belorussian SSR, Min- istry of Health Belorussian SSR, Administration of Arta under the Council oP Ministers Belorussian SSR, and Ministry of Education Belorussian SSR. The third-quarter plan for construction and assembly work was fu1Pi11ed.106 percent by coat acting organizations of the Ministry of 3ouaing and Civilian Con- struction Bel.orueaian SSR; 112 percent by the Main Administration fc~ the RecoO- atruction of Minsk City, and 99 percent by the Main Administration for Indastzlal Construction. Kolkhozes and sovkhozea of the republic fulfilled the state plan for grain procurement ahead of schedule: Aa of 1 October 1950, the sown area of winter crops was 39 percent larger than on 1 October 1949; planting of winter wheat has almost doubled. As compared with 1949, the area of grain crops harvested by combines has increased considerably; the plan for combine harvesting has been exceeded. The amount of winter crops planted by grain drills in 1950 is twice as high as during 1949? MTS of the republic completed 35 percent more tractor work than during the same period of last year. The Ministry of Automobile Transport Belorussian SSR fulfilled the third- quarter plan for freight hauling in to;:nage 113 percent, and foifreight hai:l- iug in ton-kilometers 105 percent. As compared with the same period of 1949, freight hauling in tonnage increased 51 percent, and in ton-kilometers 45 per- cent. The Administration for Utilization of Small Rivers for Transport, Council of Ministers Belorussian SSR, fulfilled the third-quarter. plan for freight haul- ing in tonnage 103 percent, and for freight hauling in ton-kilometers 162 percent; the plan for passenger transport was fulfilled 133 percent. As compared with the same period of 1949, freight hauling increased 12 percent and passenger transport 42 percent. The Ministry of Communal Economy Belorussian SSR fulfilled the third-quarter plan for passenger transport 112 percent and the plan for streetcar rune 115 per- cent; as compared with the same period of 1949, passenger transport increased 19 percent and streetcar runs increased 26 percent. The third-quarter plan for retail commodity turnover was fulfilled 99 per- cent. A number of trading organizations, including the Main administration of Special Foods Stores, the Main Administration of Department Stores, the military commissaries, and consumers' co~y~erativea, exceeded the third-quarter plan. Lo- cal trading organizations failed to meet the plan. The volume of retail commodity turnover in state and cooperative trade in the third quarter 1950 increased over the second-quarter volume. During the third quarter 1950, kolkhoz markets increased their sales of many farm products, including flour, groats, potatoes, vegetables, mutton, pork, milk, eggF, and others, as compared with the same period of 1949.
