The Mining=Equipment Plant imeni T1'ich will send many items of above-plan
production to miners in Uzbekistan in honor of Miners' Day, 27 August. Included
in the shipments will be 100 chute-type conveyers and ten cutting frames.
LENINGRAD PRODUCTS GO TO COAL FIELDS -- Moscow, Izve

. Over 80 Leningrad enterprises are ec:nding equipment to the coal mines. Drills,
motors, welding units, steel cables and compressors are included in the shipments.

The Steel-Rolling and Wire-Drawing Plant imeni Molotov has sent several dozen
tons of cable for hoists in excess of the August plan. The Elektrik Plant has
contributed about 50 welding transformers, and the Rubber Technical Products Plant
has shipped thousands of above-plan conveyer belts. The Pnevmatika Plant, in col-
laboration with scientists, has built a nr.w coal stripper, w:iich has proved on
tests to be twice as productive as cutting machines, and'lese labor-consuming.
The plant has also built an experimental model of a 30-horsepower pneumatic
motor for combines, and has put out a consignment of electric drills.
SWITCH MACHINES, SPEED WORK -- Leningradskaya Pravda, 17 Aug 50
At the Plant imeni Kotlyakov the machining of the housing of an automatic
sampling machine has been transferred from an ordinary milling machine to a
vertical boring and turning machine. This has not only rendered the work easier,
but cut the machining time 50 percent.
SPEED PROCESS IN HOIST MANUFACTURE -- Moscow, Moskovskiy Komsomolets, 26 Aug 50
The Nnvo-Kramatorskiy Plant of Elektrostal' has sent its electric mine
hoists to nearly every coal field in the USSR. Since the plant first began the
production of these machines in 1944, it has been gradually cutting production
time. Now, nine men can assemble 2-3 machines in one month.
The use of an acetylene burner, made at the plant, has cut the time for fit-
ting a hub on a toothed wheel 50 percent.
MINES GET HOIST CABLES -- Leningradskaya Pravda, 26 Aug 50
The Leningrad Steel Rolling and Cable Drawing Plant recently sent dozens of
tons of steel cable to the coal mines, to be used for hoists. This shipment was
made ahead of schedule in honor of Miners' Day, 27 August.
PUT SUPER EXCAVATOR INTO PRODUCTION -- A].ma-Ate, Kazakhstanskaya Pravda, 29 Aug 50
The Novo-Kramatorak Plant imeni Stalin is launching series production of a
super excavator, as tall as a 6-8-story building and having a bucket volume of
several cubic meters. Designed for use in the coal fields, the excavator has a
productivity of millions of cubic meters of coal per year.
