RECEIVES ORDER OF LENIN -- L::ningradskaya Pravda, 19 Jul 50
The Minister of Heavy-Machine Building, N. S. Kazakov, has been awarded
the Order of Lenin on the occasion of his 50th birthday. The decoration was
made by the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet USSR on 18 July 1950.
SCIENCE, INDUSTRY WORK TOGEPHER -- Moscow, Izvestiye, 31 Aug 50
The extensive collaboration between science and industry in Leningrad is
attested by the existence of 2)000 contracts between scientific establishments
and industrial enterprises.
QUALITY SUFFERS AS PRODUCTION INCREASES -- Yerevan) Kommuniat, 20 Aug 50
The Kirovakan Machine Building Plant has ,just exceeded the 7-month plan
for gross production, but it has done so at the expense of the quality of its
products. Hundreds of gear wheels have been returned to the foundry for re-
smelting, and are typical of the poor-quality production which is almost the
order of the day at the plant.
"Anything can happen is the course of a days' work." So say the direc-
tors, apparently indifferent to the report of the Moscow Meat Combine, stating
that the 20 screw plates received from the plant were not fit for use.
Ittstead of organizing technical schools and taking other measures to raise
the technological level of the plant, the director, T. S. Tatoyan) trys to put
the blame on the Miaiatry of the Meat and Dairy Industry.

The director of the plant's technical inspection section lacks the train-
ing and education to qualify him for his ,job. Throughout the plant there is
an absence of efforts to mechanize labor-consuming operations; in the foundry,
the assembly shop, and the boiler shop, to name a few places, heavy work ie
still done by hand. A;aay machines and boilers are not put into proper stor-
age upon completion, but are left out in the open exposed to the elements,
where they rust, corrode, and soon get out of order.
Tits management, and in particular, Ts. Knyaznyan, director of supply, show
no concern over the disposition of their finished products, and do not see to
it that they are delivered to the ordering plants on time. Equipment ordered
in the first quarter of this year has not yet been c'?.ipped out.

The Workers' Supply Section of the Novo-Kramatorakiy Machine-Building
Plant, Elektrostal', Moscow Oblast, is hereby liquidated. All establiah-
meats, enterprises, organizations and private persons having claims against

SPEID COMPLETION OF DEALS WITH SUPPLIERS, BUYERS -- Vil'nyus, Sovetskaya
Litva, 23 Aug 50
The Puntukas Machine Molding Plant of the Ministry of Light Industry
accelerated its turnover of working capital by 18.8 days. This achievement
was attained by increasing output, liquidation of above-plan stocks, and speed-
ing up the fulfillment of orders with both suppliers and buyers.
PLANTS EXCHANGE INFORMATION -- Tallin, Sovetskaya Estoniya, 26 Aug 50
The Petrozavodsk Onega Plant has organized a group of workers and fore-
men under its technological office to study and disseminate the methods and
inventions of innovators. The group exchanges information and instruction
with workers from other plants, whom it visits. In reciprocation, the group
invites representatives from other enterprises to its own plant.
