1950 GRAIN HARVEST NEAR 1949 LEVEL -- Prague, Lidove Noviny, 28 Oct 50
According to preliminary data, the 1950 grain harvest reached the 1949
level, except for a few spring grains which, particularly in Slovakia, did
not receive enough moisture and were not up to the plan.
The number of livestock at the end of the third quarter 1950 was 98 per-
cent of the number planned for the end of the year. This indicates a rise
of 5 percent over the same period of the previous year. The year-end planned
number of cows was 99 percent achieved at the end of the third quarter, that
of pigs 119 percent, and that of sows 89 percent. This-represents an increase
of 6 percent in the number of cows over the third quarter 1949.
The milk-production plan was fulfilled'by 115 percent, and milk producti-
vity per cow rose by 11 percent over 1949. Nevertheless, the milk-delivery plan
was not fulfilled.
The egg-production plan was fulfilled by 109 percent, and egg productivity
per hen increased by one percent over 19.49.
In the 1950 harvest 4,200 JZD (Unified Agricultural Cooperatives) planned
common work. Of this number, 2,600 cooperatives were engaged in socialist
competitions, and 2,400 organized mass deliveries of grain.- The boundaries be-
tween fields were plowed up on 2,730 cooperatives.
The forestry plan progressed quite well. By the 'end of the third quarter
the annual plan had been fulfilled 88 percent to wood felling, 80 percent in
hauling the wood out, and 72 percent in deliveries of wood.

In July 1950 a total of 166,446,000 eggs -was laid in Czechoslovakia, and
the.total for the first 7 months of the year was 1,211,579,000 eggs. Of the
July total, 35,227;000 eggs were purchased on delivery. quotas; 618,831,000
were bought up under the same arrangement during the first 7 months of the year.

In the Czech Provinces alone, 1,005,602,000 eggs have been laid since
1 January, and 525,649,000 bought up under quota agreements. The remainder
of the egg production was in Slovakia.
In July, the average number of eggs laid per hen was 12.5 in the Czech
Provinces and 10.7 in Slovakia.
REVEAL GAME TOTAIS FOR 1949 -- Prague, Hospodar, 5 Oct 50
During 1949 a total of 1,200,000 hares was shot in Czechoslovakia. In
the same year 156,416 pheasants, 638,911 partridges, 19,053 wild ducks,
150,212 rabbits, 4,562 stags, and 41,122 deer were also shot. In addition, 736 26,73 nfoXes and and 30,384 weasels were shot. A further 25,569 partridges, 16,479
7,381 hares were trapped.

The 1950 harvest has yielded 1 146 carloads of dwarf cherries, 1 558 car-
loads of currants, 96 carloads of cultivated strawberrie.., 800 carloads of goose-
berries, 10,294 carloads of plums, 126 carloads of peaches, and 617 carloads
of apricots.
During 1950 a total of 120,261 quintals of lettuce was harvested. This was
produced on an area of 816 hectares in the Czech Provinces and 169 hectares in
Slovakia.
PRODUCE ALBUMINOUS FODDER -- Prague, Rude Pravo, 14 Sep 50
A new albuminous fodder for swine has been manufactured in the Ruzomberok
cellulose plant since the beginning of July. It is obtained from wood in the
production of cellulose. This new fodder represents an improved utilization of
a domestic raw material, wood.
