THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION REPORTS USSR SEEKS A-BOMB MATERIAL IN KWANGSI It is reported that the Soviet Union, having received information that uranium ore exists in Kwangsi, dispatched 20 Soviet technicians to inspect the Pa-pu area of Ho Hsien on 20 August 1950 to verify the fact as to whether the important ore, which may be used by the Soviets to make atom bombs, actually exists. It is further reported that on 1 September 1950, a large shipment of min- ing equipment was being transported to the area via the Yunnan-Kwangsi Highway, and that mining activities were to begin in the near future.
