PLAN PLANT ON RIJECINA RIVER -- L,jubl~ana, Slovenaki Porocevalec, 5 Jan 51
Recently En3r Mladen Zugal,j of the "Hidroprojekt" Institute in Zagreb de-
signed a large hydroelectric power plant to be located on the Ri,jecina River
near Ri,jeka< This plant, which will be connected with the plant at Vinoclol,
will have almost the same capacity as the plant at Maribosski Otok. Its three
turbogenerator units of 17,000 kilowatts each will be able to produce 300 mil-
lion kilowatt-hours of power per year.
An artificial lake with a capacity of 16 million cubic meters of water is
planned to be built at the source of the Ri,jecina River. The dam at the lake
will be 35 meters high and 370 meters long. The wa?ber will flow from the lake
through a 4.8-kilometer pipeline to a water tower above the city ~i,jeka~.
From there, it?will flow through a pressure pipeline with a 280-meter fall to
the turbines of the underground plant, which is to be located in the vicinity
of the Rijeka Shipyard. The blueprints give another alternative, according to
which the plant would be built inside a hill which is in the vicinity of the
Rijeka-Susak bridge.
The construction coats of the plant are estimated tc be 725, million dinars,
while the production coats are estimated to average 22 Para (.22 dinars) per kil-
owatt-hour of power., The new plant is scheduled to be built after the completion
of the plant at Vinodol~ T.he construction of the new plant will increase the sup-
ply of water to Rijeka.
TO PRODUCE STEAM TURBINES IN 1951 -- L,jubl3ana, Slovenski Porocevalec, 19 Dec 50
The "Eduard Kardel,j" Steam-Turbine Factory in Karlovac will begin production
of steam turbines :.n 1951. The designing office of this factory is located in
Znsreb. The temporary workshops of the factory have already succeeded in master-
ing *.he production of steam-turbine vanes, which will replace old vanes of tur-
bines in thermal power. plants,

The factory, which will produce steam turbines for tharmo p~yerf =1 ast-
and transoceanic ships, will consist of an assembly shop, workaho s are
ing parts for assembly, and auxiliary uorkshops. The temporary P
already producing parts for assembly, while machinery is being installed in
the permanent shop, which is g0 percent completed. Parts for the prototype
of the first Yugoslav-made steam turbine are being constructed with some of
the machines that have been installed.
The designing office in Zagreb is working on the blueprints of the first
steam turbine, which is intended for a thermal Power Pla~fter whiech theeengits
are expected to be ready by the beginning of February,
Aeers of the office will begin to work on the blueprints of a special type of
steam turbine for ships.

MORE POWER PLANTS UNDER CONSTRUCTLON -- Belgrade, Borba, 3 Jan 51
The Ovcar-Kablar hydroelectric power plant on the Western Morava is now
under. construe+,ion, Its first turbogenerator unit will be installed and put
in`.o operation ir: 1953. The power plant will supply the industrial basin be-
tween Uzice and Rankovicevo with power. The installation of the second tur-
boganerarer unit 3n the hydroelectric power plant near Zajecar on the Timok
River Ls being completed. Together with the thermal power plant at Zvezdan,
it will furnisi, power to the Timok basin.
The first turbogenerator units of the hydroelectric power plant at
Vuzenic.a and at Medvode will hYVe a capacity of 16,500 and 12,000 horsepower
respectively. Hoth turbogenerator units are scheduled to be in operation in
1952., The turbogenerator units of the power plant at Jablanica will have a
total capacity of 180,000 horsepower. The first unit of 30,000 horsepower is
scheduled to be in operation in 1952.
TO NAIL HUGE GENERATOR FOR POWER PLANT AT MAVROVO -- Ljubljana, Slovenski
Porocevalec, 3 Jan 51
The "R~.de Koncar" Factory recently completed three 24,000-kilovolt-ampere
generators for two hydroelectric power plants on the Drava River> Two of these
generators are intended for the plant at Mariborski Otok and the third for the
plant at Vuzenica. 'Phe factory has already begun the construction of a j0,000-
kilovolt-ampere generator for the plant at Zvornik. Recently, the factory be-
gan the construction of a generator for the plant at Mavrovo. This generator
will have twice the capacity uY the generators for the Drava power plants.
PRODUCES RELAYS FOR POWER PLANTS,-- Ljubljana, Slovenski Porocevalec, 20 Dec 50
The "Tela" Factory in Ljubljana, which was established in 1948, produces
relays for Yugoslav power plants. Thus far it has furnished relays to the thermal
power plants in Trbovlje and Bor, and to the plant of the "Jugovinil" F -;tort' in
Kastel Sucurac, as well as to the hydroelectric power plants at Mariborski Otok
and Mesici.
This year the factory has constructed the prototype of an automatic temper-
ature regulator for hatcheries. The factory also plans to produce resistance
bridges for measuring distances.
