Tires made of natural rubber last, on the average, for 27,000 kilometers
in all section of Yugoslavia except in Montenegro, where they last for about
15,000 kilometers. in 1950, Montenegro imported 1,200,000 dinars' worth of
tires. If the roads in Montenegro were repaired, 25 percent could be saved
on tires. An automobile in Montenegro cau travel up to 20,000 kilometers
before it has to be overhauled, while in other sections of Yugoslavia it can
travel over 60,000 kilometers.
Tuis year's budget calls for 70 million dinars to be spent on road
repair work, while the budget for 1950 called for 25 million diners. The
federal government has given funds to the republic governmenros for the import
of stone crushers, rollers, dump trucks, and equipment for asphalting roads.
This year, road upkeep and repair enterprises in Montenegro will asphalt
18 kilometers on the Bioce-Titograd and Titograd-Sitnica roads. The guard
walls along the following federal roads will be rebuilt: Kolasin-Bioce, Bioce-
Titograd, Titograd-Cetinje, Cetinje-rotor, Kotor-Hercegnovi, and Kotor-U1cinj.
A bridge, being built on the Tara River near Mojkovac, will make possible the
connection between Kolasin, Mojkovac, and Slepae Most. A 111-meter concrete
bridge,v*hibh will be built near Berane, will facilitate the connection between
Berane and Bijelo Polje. A third bridge will be built over Susica Creek near
Danilovgrad. Repair of the Titograd-Plavnica road, which is in very bad condi-
tion, vill begin soon.

At the beginning of 1950, there were 82 aviation clubs within the Aeronau-
tical Federation of Yugoslavia. These clubs had 20,000 members. At present
there are 197 such clubs with a total membership of 50,000. In 1950, 85 aero-
nautical, glider, paratrooper, and pilot schools in Yugoslavia, with a total
enrollment of 8,600,'v reopen.

The JAT (Yugoslav Air Transport) system maintains regular connections
with 11 domestic and three international lines, flying from Belgrade to
Zurich, to Munich, and Frankfurt an Main.
During 1950, JAT carried 80,000 passengers, nd flev 1,900,000 kilometers.
