THIS IS ' .EVALUATED INFORMATION BULGARIAN RAILROADS INTRODUCE SOVIET TECHNIQUES FLAN RR WORK, SPEED CI_ASSICATION.-- Sofia, Izgrev, 9 Max 51 The classification of trains has now been established on the Soviet pat- tern, by introducing a technological procedure strictly determining every single operation and setting up the proper plan. Soviet Engineer Dobrotin. held a series of lectures for workers of the Sovia Railroad Yard, describing the program of these procedures. Special charts have been set up for classi- fication operations. The new system provides for much greater speed in classification work, which heretofore took an indefinite time. At present, the make-up and dis- patch of a freight train of 45 cars takes about 60 minutes. The stopover time of cars in transit has been reduced from 18 hours to 3.29, and that of cars with local destination from 48 hours to 12. Thus, car circulation has been considerably increased. All railroad brigades are now working on complex assignments, in accord- ance with the system. established by switching engineer Kataev, which combines the operations of yard engineer, switchman, maintenance man, warehouse aan, nn_d car inspector. Owing to the excellent work of the brigades, no fines have been paid in the Sofia Railroad Yard for the last 3 months. REDUCE,REPAIR COST OF LOCOMOTIVES -- Sofia, Izgrev, 9 Mar 51 Engineers at the Stara Zagora Railroad Depot have been successful in re- ducing the current-repair cost of locomotives. The savings reached in :urrent- repaii? costs of locomotive No 17.46 have been increased by 11 percent over De- cember-.1950, and brought down to 0.75 leva per road-kilometer. Engineer Petkov reduced current-repair costs on his freight locomotive to 2.25 leva per road- kilometer. CONFIDENTIAL on the other hsnd, Engineer Zh. Katilov reached a record in the opposite direction by increasing the repair costs on his locomotive from 10 leva to 11.30 per road kilometer. The savings in locomotive repair costs have been accomplished by follOV;.ng closely the methods used by Soviet engineers. 50X1-HUM Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2011/10/19: CIA-RDP80-00809A000600390249-3
