Among persons recently arrested in Hungary were Prince Nandor Montenuovo,
hero of the wartime resistance; Lt Gen Imre Suhay, military writer; and Ottmar
Schaurek, former champion horse breeder, who had been a supervisor of horse
breeding since 1945. Gabor Ugron's younger daughter, Eva, was arrested and
sentenced to 12 years' imprisonment for allegedly attempting to.flee the coun-
Janos Liagel Sr, founder and former owner of the Furniture Factory, and
Todor Guthard, former chief director of IBUSZ (Traveling, Purchasing, and Ship-
ping, Inc), died of natural causes,
REPORTS POLICE NIGHT ABDUCTIONS IN BUDAPEST -- Innsbruck, Unio Press Service,

Persons found on the streets of Budapest at night are accosted by police
and required to produce their work books. Those unable to prove that they are
employed by a state enterprise are immediately sent off to work at the Duna-
pentele construction site without first being allowed to return home.
TRY TO BREAK MOVIE BOYCOTT -- Innsbruck, Unio Press Service, 3 Apr 51
In an attempt to break the boycott of Soviet films, the Peoples' Economic
Council has issued a decree placing all movie houses under'the direction of the
Budapest City Council. MOKLP (National Company of Motion-Picture Industries),
which formerly supervised movie houses, will now function only as a film distri-
butor,

The Budapest City Council, in turn, set up FOMOZI (Capitol Movies), with'
headquarters at Gyulai Pal utca 7, for the supervision of' projection theaters.
The principal function of FOMOZI will be to organize the public. FOMOZI will
be undertaking a task at which no one has yet succeeded. For the past 6 years,
persons voluntarily attending a Soviet film have been subjected to eocial boy-
cott, and shows at which attendance is compulsory are not successful.
RESISTANCE HANDBILLS IN BUDAPEST -- Innsbruck, Unio Press Service, 31 Mar 51
Anti-Communist handbills have appeared in various sections of Budapest,
principally on the Pest side. Recently, handbills were distributed at night
in the Ferencvaros district, bearing slogans such as "How long will you con-
tinue to endure-it?" The distributors of the bills.are being held. Such
bitter notes have been distributed even at the strictly supervised Dunapentele
conatnic tion site.
SECURITY POLICE GET PAY INCREASE -- Munich, Hungaria, 23 Feb 51
The State Security Authority Police danger bonus of 55 forints above regu-
lar army pay has been increased to 65 forints.
