NEW MAAAGEMENT SET UP -- Prague, Svobodne Slovo, 21 Mar 51
On the recommendation of Minister of Industry G. Kliment, the government
has decreed that the national enterprises of the metalworking industry be divided
into five general managements instead of the present four. This will make it
possible to accelerate the specialization of metalworking production.
The new enterprise will be the Ceskoslovenske Zavody Vseobecne Kovovyroby
(Czechoslovak General Metalworking Plants, with headquarters in Plzen. The
former general management of the Ceskoslovenske Zavody Vseobecneho Strojirenstvi
a Kovovyroby (Czechoslovak General Machine-Building and Metalworking Plants) will
be transferred to the new enterprise.
The Ceskoslovenski Zavody Automobilove a Letecke (Czechoslovak Automobile
and Aircraft-Plants) will in the future be called the Ceskoslovenske Zavody na
Vyrobu Vozidel (Czechoslovak Plants for Producing Vehicles).
The regional management for general metalworking in Slovakia has been renamed
the S.trojiarske Zavod.y na Slovensku (Machine-Building Plants in Slovakia).
The managers will all retain their present. positions, and a new manager of
general metalworking will be named later.
GREATER SCRAP COLLECTIONS URGED -- Prague, Zemedelske Noviny, 11 Mar 51
At a meeting of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia
Minister Dolansky pointed out that the importance of scrap collections has not
been fully appreciated. Most people are not aware, he said, that scrap collections
yield approximately as much iron as do imports from dweden. Factories and farmers
are' continually collecting scrap and, in spite of this, it has been necessary to
increase imports to supply metallurgical demands.

For the development of Czechoslovak industry to continue, measures must be
taken to cover raw-materials requirements from domestic sources. Toward this
end, a number of scrap drives have been organized.
FOUNDRY WORK SPED -- Prague, Rude Pravo, 7 Mar 51
The old steel mill of the Klement Gottwald Vitkovice Ironworks in Vitkovice
has surpassed its previous record number of melts in one day. Normally 14 melts
are accomplished per day, and the previous record was 16 melts. On 5 March,
however, the plant's shockworkers were able to carry out 17 melts.
CONVERT FACTORY IN DOBRIS.-- Prague, Lidove Noviny, 8 Mar 51
Dobris, in Prague KraJ, is to have a new factory. The former Betonka
foncrete factory/ is already employing nemale welders, and the Local. i~ationa
Committee is recruiting more women for work in the factory.
