DATE OF INFORMATION 1951 -SYNTHOMYCIN TREATS DYSENTERY, BRUCELLOSIS Synthomycin is effective in the treatment of dysentery, typhoid, inflamma- tion of the lungs, brucellosib, and certain other diseases. Synt.osgrcin, which is produced in powder form, can be obtained only by presenting a physician's prescription. This antibiotic was developed at the All-Union Scientific Research Chemico- pharmaceutical. Institute and the Institute of Biological and Medical Chemistry, Academy of Medical Sciences USSR. Studies on the therapeutic properties of this antibiotic were conducted by Prof G. N. Pershin, Doctor of Medical Sciences, and F. S. Khanenya, Candidate of Medical Scie es. The technology for the production of-this antibiotic was worked out by Professors 0. Yu. Magidson and M. M. Shemyakin, Doctots of Chemical Sciences, who were assisted by A. P.
