SVERDLOVSK PLANT SHIPS GENERATORS TO FAR EAST -- Moscow, Pravda, 13 Mar 51
The Sverdlovsk Uralelektroapparat Plant is one of the country's main,pro-
ducers of electrical equipment. Eydrogenerators produced here are being used not
only in the Urals; but also in the Georgian, Armenian, Kirgiz, and Karelo-Finnish
Republics, as well as in the Far East. Oil switches made at the plant are installed
in all large electric power stations throughout the country.
The plant has now been given orders to build electric motors for mud pumps
to be used in the construction of the Kuybyshev GES, and to produce vertical elec-
tric motors for-sluices of the Volga-Don Canal.
PRODUCES TRANSFORMERS, TESTERS -- Moscow, Vechernyaya Moskva, 6 Feb 51
The First Moscow Electrical Repair Plant, which has been putting out electric
motors, is now producing transformers for fluorescent lamps in the capital. It
is also producing devices for testing windings on electrical machinery, some of
which are now beingrutilized at the Dinamo, imeni Kirov, imeni Vladimir I1'ich,
and other plants.
WELDING EQUIPMENT GOES INTO SERIES PRODUCTION -- Leningradskaya Pravda, 7 Feb 51
The Leningrad Elektrik Plant has put a number of new items into series pro-
duction, indluding a welding converter, transfohners of single-body construction,
and powerful machines for relief-welding.

SCIENTISTS HOLD LECTURES, CONSULTATIONS -- Leningradskaya Pravda, 6 Mar 51
The Electrical Engineering Institute imeni Ulyanov (Lenin), has made pro-
fessional assistance contracts with many Leningrad enterprises, including the
Svetlana, Proletariy, Elektrosila, and Elektroapparat Plants. A number of chairs
of the institute are aiding plants that are working on orders for the great con's
struction projects.
Sciantis-cs are participating in the technical councils of plants and factories,
and are helping the managements to establish laboratories and to put technological
innovations into practice. ne group of scientists collaborated with industrialists
to develop a universal cutting tool, capable of cutting metal under water as well
as in the atmosphere.
The Physics Chair assisted the Proletarskiy T -ud Plant in developing a method
of preventing certain parts from becoming electrified, a.measure which made working
conditions safer. The Laboratory of High-Voltage Technology aided the Proletariy
Plant to set up its own plant laboratory for testing high-voltage equipment. The
Svetlana Plant was helped to develop a new-type circuit for electric lights.
Rem?~-sentatives of the institute hold lectures for the workers of the various
enterprises, and carry oniconsultations with them, as requested. The Laboratory
of High-Frequency Metallurgy, for example, has been givian. instruction in precision
casting.
