Workers of the Tashkent Electrokabe.l' Plant promised to fulfill their
4--m.-ntn program by 25 April and to organize the series production of a spe-
cial. cable.. for electric plowing and rodless pumps. One of the most important
duties of the plant personnel is to prepare for conversion to the cost-account-
ing system during the first, half of 1951

The Kiev Ukrkabel' Plant has organized the production of a new type of
cable for electric tractors. The first consignment of this cable has already
been shipped to consumers.

The Yerevan Cable Plant has joined the socialist competition in honor
of the Fifteenth. Congress of the Armenian KP(b), and has assumed the follow-
ing responsibilities
1. To fulfill the first-quarter plan for gross production by 27 March.
2. To produce wire, cable, and winding copper above the plan.
3. To fill the second-quarter urder for the Volga-Don Canal by the day
the congress opens.
4. To increase labor productivity for the first quarter by 6 percent
above that of the fourth quarter 1950?.

The Leningrad Sevkabel' Plant has developed a new type of insulation,
introduced lead snbot.itutes, and installed new enameling furnaces. Techno-
logist Dinkevich is redesigning winding and braiding machines, During a
2-year pericd, ir.r.-?vators brought. forward 2,716 proposals, 1,888 of which
were applied l.n prod:.ctlon, and the plant saved 8,500,000 rubles, 200 tons
of ferrous me'els, Fed much silk and thread. The plant has been judged the
best enterprise in Leningrad for inventiveness.

The Moscow Scientific Research Institute of the Cable Industry, to-
gether w!_tr-, Mr ? ?'.' and Sevkabel' (Leningrad) plants, is developing
new typee c?f h. gr. ?.v>_.a~ cable-, for the Volga hydroelectric stations.
A nc'? , :-r?e ',f cable vii' have improved electrical properties and greater
mechani?_il s'tr ngth.. -'ts diameter W_ll be reduced .20 percent as compared to
the types formerly put out by the industry,. This will make it possible to in-
crease tna Length of a section of cable, and thus simplify installation by re-
d:cing '._e number of couplings on a line, The cable's insulation is made of
high-q,.aiLty paper impregnated with oil under high pressure. In laying the
. no s e,s.h for protection a.gafnst mechanical damafe is required. The
cable is vibration proof.. An experimental section of the new cable has been
made.

The Leningrad. Sevkabel' Plant, which is located on the shone of the Gulf
of Finland, filled one of the power cable orders for the Volga-Don project on
15 March instead of 28 March, and completed the order for the Kuybyshev Hydro-
electric Station v o,ject on 24 March instead of 1 April. The plant has built
a test length of "superpower" cable for the Kuybyshev builders and has promised
to finish all the superpower cable for the Kuybyshev project by 5 April
The rubber-cable shop has received second- and third-quarter orders for
the building of the Stalingrad Hydroelectric Station and plans to complete
these orders by 31 March.

Phot?oelectr is safety devices, which automatically six, P the machine if
the worker's hand is under the die, are being used on sever7l dozen presses
at the Kharkov Electrical Machinery Plant, imenl Stalin. Use of the electric
eye makes it possible to remove safety screens and other cumbersome safety
devices that hinder efficient operation, To date, there have been no ecci-?
dents on machines equipped with photoelectric safety devices, and the plant
plans to equip 50 more presses with electric eyes. To accomplish this, the
plant needs a number of parts. The Ministry of Electrical Industry should
allot the material necessary for this project.
