THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION An eyewitness in the refugee transit camp at Uelzen-Bohldanma reports that the friendship train of 13 luxurious cars the German Democratic Re- public's birthday ~1 December] present to Marshal Stalin -- was stopped and mutilated by Polish partisans while en route to Moscow. The eyewitness, a locomotive fireman and member of the train's German crew, stated that the attack occurred about 10 kilometers beyond Warsaw, The train was stopped by a false signal and about 25 Polish partisans forced their way into the cars. They destroyed the paneling, mutilated the uphol- stery, and broke the window panes, No harm was done to the train's crew, which was ordered to continue the trip after 20 minutes. Soviet officers were said to have ordered the train ba-k to Frankfurt/ Oder upon its arrival at Brest-Litovsk, after the crew had been sworn to secrecy.
