CONFIDENTIAL GOVERNMENT CONTROLS CREATE CONSUMERS' GOODS SRORTAGES -- Rome, Bollettino Danu- biano, 29 Jan 51 - " The Polish government, acting on Marshal Rokossovskiy's demand, has tightened its control over essential raw materials necessary for war industry, beginning 15 January 1951. All available stocks 'of iron and cement have been frozen and placed at the disposal of the General Staff of the Army. The rations of liquid fuels have been reduced to a minimum; this applies also to vehicles used by government offices. The disappearance of many common hardware items from the stores and the reduction of consumers' goods distributed to the workers on ration cards has also been noted. Almost nothing can be ob- tained in so-called free stores run by the government, even for the high prices established by the Ministry of Trade. SET UP MODERN DAIRY -- Zycie Warszawy, 14 Jun 50 Cooperative Building Enterprise No 2 is constructing modern dairies at 164166 Pulaweki Street, Warsaw. The dairies are expected to produce 60,000 liters of milk daily. Initial production is planned for 22 July 1950, provided the necessary equipment and machines are delivered on time. The dairies have a processing room where the milk will be pasteurized and bottled, a boiler room, garages, and stables., The total volume of the dairy buildings is 25,000 cubic meters. PLEDGE INCREASED SUGAR PRODUCTION -- Warsaw, Zwiazkowiec, 8 Oct 50 The workers of the Malbork Sugar Plant have pledged to increase the daily norm for sugar-beet processing from 17,500 quintals to 18,500 quintals. The plant's workers have called on workers of other sugar plants to make simllar pledges. EXPLOIT WILD GAME -- Berlin, Nachrichten fuer Aussenhandel, 23 Dec 50 Game supplies Poland yearly with 12 million kilograms of meat, besides hides for domestic use and export valued at 6,600,000 zlotys. A minimum seasonal bag of 15,000 game animals is expected during the Six~w~ Plan, three-fifths of which is to consist of boars.
