HALVES RATES FOR WOLFRAM ORE, TIN -- Canton, Nan-Pang Jib-pao, 29 May 51
In recognition of the essential nature of wolfram ore and pure ti.n as in-
dustrial raw materials and as material= vital to the structure of national de-
fense, the Kwangtung Inland Waterways Control Bureau has reduced the transport
rates on these two materials in the hope that lower ;.oats will stimulate ship-
ping and market_ng in greater quantity. The: new rates, affective as of 29 May
1950, represent a 50-percent reduction from the original table of shipping
charges, as follows;

The bureau will also conduct another study of shipping rates on Kwangtung
waterways in preparation for further adjustments,
KWANGTUNG, KWANGSI SHJP 5,000 TONS OF WOLFRAM ORE TO USSR -- IIong Kong, Kung-
shang Jih-pao, 16 Apr 51
Taihoku, 15 April (Reuters) -- According to KM'P seurcea, the USSR hae taken
over the vast, rich wolfram reserves of Kwangtung and Kwangai provinces,, to supply
her munitions industry. During the past 6 months, 5,000 tons of wolfram ore have
been shipped to the USSR.
