MECHANIZATION PROGRESSING IN 'CI~RNO MORE" MINE
At present, main galleries, adaptable Yor the use of electric trolleys,
are being constructed in the "Cherno More" Black Coal Mine. These electric
trolleys will replace horse-drawn carts.
The new main galleries have electric lighting, which promotes increased
labor productivity and makes }mderground work much safer. Electric drilling
machines and ,jackhammers are used by the miners in drilling holes for blast-
ing.
Despite unfavorable local conditions and peculiarities of the coal hori-
zons, coal production in the "Cherno More" Mine is increasing constantly.
Machines and spare parts are being shipped constantly to Bulgarian coal mines.
The pick method is still applied widely in ell kinds of work, while broad-
face work lags. The work now being done on narrow faces, 12 to 15 meters wide,
does not give satisfactory results. Experiments carried out in the broad-face
method of working have proved that such a work method is pose+*~e. The multi-
lateral system of drilling in Bulgarian mines is not so applicable because of
the .peculiarities of the seams.
