TO OPEN FOR 1951 - 1952 SCHOOL YEAR

The Main Administration of Educational Institutions of the Ministry of
Transportation has announced the opening of enrollment in its 14 railroad
transport vtuzes (higher technical eduL:ational institutions) for the 1951 -
1952 school year.
Except for the dropping of a specialty taught at one institute and the
organization of a new correspondence institute, the notice of enrollment con-
tains no changes from that issued at the beginning of the 1950 - 1.951 school
year
Omitted in this year-Is announcement was the specialty of railroad elec-
trical engineer for automatics, telemechanics, and electrical communications,
previously listed under the Moscow Institute of Railroad Transport Electrical
and Mechanical Engineers imeni F. E. Dzerzhinskiy.(1)
The same institute will furnish the buildings and facilities for the
new All-Union Correspondence Institute of Railroad Transport Engineers.(2)
The r~ew institute will train the following types of specialists. rail-
road engineer for operation of railroads; railroad construction engineer;
railroad mechanical engineer; railroad electrical engineer for automatics,
telemechanics, and electrical communications; railroad engineer for bridges
and tunnels; railroad electric power engineer; rai.lrq 4 electromechanical en-
gineer for electrical transport; and engineer-econot.(3)
The institute will have five faculties? onerar.ions; mechanics; con-
struction; signaling, centralized'switc.h and signal cor rol, operation of
block signals; and. communications;'and e:Agineering economics. Each faculty
will have several departments,or chairs.

Departments of the institute will be set up in various cities in existing
railroad institutes. The course of study will be 6 years. Graduates will re-
ceive a diploma as railroad transport engineers in their respective specialties,
on a level with graduates of other railroad transport vtuzes.
Address of the institute is Moscow, 55, Novosushevskaya, 26.
