THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION MAKE FIRST YUGOSLAV TYPEWRITER; STEP UP OUTPUT OF CONSUMERS' GOOD$ NEW TYPEWRITER HAS FEWER PARTS -- Zagreb, Narodni List, 22 Jun 51 A prototype of a typewriter, the first ever made in Yugoslavia, has been designed and constructed by Nikola Lozovo,j after 16 months of work. The new typewriter, named the Jadran, is similar to other typewriters, but has about 1,050 parts instead of the usual 1,800-2,500. The Jadran is simple to manufacture and to operate. The short roller can be easily exchanged for one that is longer; and the type can be changed from Latin characters to Cyrillic in 30 seconds. With the exception of the type, ball bearings, and the springs for moving the carriage, the entire typewriter was made from Yugoslav materials. However, since type is already being produced in Slovenia, it will not need to be im- ported when serial production of the typewriter begins. Experimental production of a series of 30 typewriters is to begin in Janu- ary 1952, when the definitive design for the Jadran is completed. PRODUCE CIGARETTE-MAKING MACHINERY -- Belgrade, Borba, 23 Jun 51 Nis -- An automatic cigarette-making machine has been designed by Jova*!.. Vucevic, chief machinist, and V~ckoslav Jovanovic, inventor and efficiency ex- pert in the tobacco factory in Nis. It took almost 2 years to build the new machine. It can produce 2,600 cigarettes per minute, or about one million in 8 hours. The machine is now undergoing a trial run; regular production will begin on 7 July. All 800 parts of the machine were produced in the workshop in Nis; .however, they are simple in construction and can be produced in all the large machine shops in Yugoslavia. Over 15 million dinars would be saved annually if the new machine were substituted for`'the cigarette-making machines now being used in .the Yugoslav tobacco industry. :IoA#IC~IIG~'~l A.ll . ~CONFID~NTIAL Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2011/08/23: CIA-RDP80-00809A000700020067-4 Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2011/08/23: CIA-RDP80-00809A000700020067-4 BATTERY AND ELECTRIC LAMP FACTORY FULFILIS 5-YEAR PLAN -- Zagreb, V,jesnik, 25 Jun 51 The "Croatia" Battery and Electric Lamp Factory has fulfilled its Five- Year Plan.
