Es mentioned two Islamic groups which function in T'ai-pei -- the Chinese -- Moslems' Society and the Young Moslem a Society, the latter being under the direct protection of Madame Chiang Kai--shek. He also said that the colony is currently translating the Koran into Chinese. In commenting on the Chinese Turkish colony as a whole, Es said that its members were formerly very affluent have now lost everything. These Chinese Turks, according to Ee, are proud of their Turkish descent and well-read on Turkey, but are inclined to feel that Turkey has failed to display the proper interest In In the course of his articles, Es gave the following biographic information about Chinese Turks.
