THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION
The Hungarian Minister of Defense has ordered the creation of a Military
Pc:1ce. Tvo courses have already been initiated in Budapest with the partici-
pation o? reliable young soldiers of peasant rend worker background, Students
who xere ealected by the armed forces xil?. receive. theoretical and practical
instruction.
The I!ildtery Police will take the place of the former Military Gendarmerie
to direct traffic during troop movements, sad will also have the task of sup-
porting the activitles of the political officers.
The organization of the military police indicates the desire of the
military authorities to make themselves independent of the State Police and
the State Security Authority. The new military police x111 maintain close
liaison with the notorious military_political department of the Ministry of
Defense, and, in case of war, one of its principal teaks will be to control
tLe political activities of the citizens.
Students of the military police school x111 undergo a strict ideological
indoctrination course.
