NEW ASZOD-VAC RAIL LINE OPENS;
3-DAY TURNAROUND MOVEMENT GAINS
MORE DIRECT LINE BEGINS OPERATION -- Budapest, Szabad Nep, 2 Nov 51
A new railroad line from Aszod to Vac, via Galgamacsa, begins operation
on 5 November. The new line is more direct than the old route, saves time,
and provides railroad stops for many villages previously without railroad
transportation.
PERFORM MINOR REPAIRS IN YARDS -- Budapest, Sze-bad Nep, 13 Nov 51
Hungarian railroad workers are making a concentrated effort to realize
3-day turnaround of railroad cars. Especially good results were achieved at
Miskolc, Szolnok, and Rakos (Budapest) yards, where the 7 Novembar traffic
handling pledges were exceeded.
Upon the suggestion of Hungary's first railroad delegation to the USSR,
minor repairs are being performed on cars in the larger Budapest railroad
yards without taking the cars into repair shops. An average of 120-150 cars
daily are repaired in this way, saving 1,200-1,800 [man_7 hours.
