R6SR A new town, Sta]'stroy is under construction in the vicinity of Moscow,(l) Th6 settlement of Fryazino near Moscow is developing rapidly. Recently, a small village located in dense woods, it is now becoming a small town with asphalt streets and bright two and three storied buildings for the workers of the textile factory, asphalt plant, and other enterprises. It has a library, secondary school, hospital, scientific institute, and technical institute. An asphalt highway connects cryazino with the town of Shchelkovo.(2) The construction of Boksitogorsk, a newly developed town of miners in Leningrad Oblast, is progressing rapidly. Stone houses and public buildings are being erected and, in 1951, 11,000 square meters of living space are to be made available for use.(3) The small town of Polovinka in Molotov Oblast has been renamed Ugleural'sk. A newly developing city of Ural miners, it already has dozens of schools, a Palace of Culture, clubs, 16 libraries, 19 kindergarten, 48 shops, 27 restaurants, and 3 hospitals.(4) Bashkir ASSR The youngest city of the USSR, Oktyabrskiy, is located in the, center of the Tuymazy petroleum fields, which are among the most important of the "Second Baku." It is located on the right bank of the Ik River, which is the left tributary of the Kama River. The majority of the houses built along the city's 200 streets are multistoried. The completion of 30,000 square meters of the living space is contemplated for 1951.(5) - 1 - CLASSIFICATION CONFIDENTIAL ~jO~ 1)E3~Tt~l STATE NAVY NSR T ' DIST RIBBUTION ARMY JqAIR FBI I I Declassified in Part - Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2011/10/31 CIA-RDP80-00809A000700040130-1 Declassified in Part - Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2011/10/31 CIA-RDP80-00809A000700040130-1 Golf IDENIIAL The growth of the Uzbek SSE economy has led to the construction of such new towns as Angren, Begovat, Chirchik, Ktvasay, Leninsk, and Yangi-Yul'.(6) Chirchik is a young town which developed from the small steppe oettlement .of Kirgiz-Kulak into an important industrial center of Uzbek SSE* Its in- dustrial enterprises include plants manufacturing agricultural machinery, a footwear factory, a sewing factory, and a glass factory.(7) Turkmen SSR Preliminary work has started to develop. the small settlement of Anchayar into a town. So far, the work has been confined to planning and building the foundations for the prefabricated houses which have started to arrive. Plans call for making 6,000 meters of houses and buildings available for use in 1951.(8) Tadzhik SSR A new tarn, Novabad, has grown up in the last year on the banks of the Surkhob River in the mountains.(9) Kazakh SSR Buildings have been added to the newly developed settlement of Vtoroy Kordon, which is not far from Tekeli in Taldy-Kurgan Oblast. Miners have settled in 67 two-story brick houses while nearly 100 one-story buildings have also been constructed. The settlement has four boilers for steam heating its living quarters.(10) SOURCES 1.
