URGES SOVIET DOCTORS'TO USE STAPHYLOCOCCUS ANTIPHAGIN Dr A. Anton'yev Moscow Medical organizations of a number of oblasts (Kemerovo, Omsk, Tomsk, Vologda, etc.) do not efficiently pursue the fight against pyogI,-.iic diseases at industrial establishments. Staphylococcus antiphagin, which in combina- tion with local therapy produces a lasting therapeutic effect, is being Introduced into practice at a very Blow rate. This is a state of affairs which cannot be tolerated. Therapy of furuncles, furunculosis, and hydroadenites with staphylornc- cuB antiphagin has proved very effective. At a recent conference in Moscow, Professor Bragin, Ivanovo, cited interesting data on the administration of staphylococcus antiphagin together with autogenous blood, and Dr Antoz'ye, Leningrad Institute of Physiotherapy, reported on a method of applying the antiphagin with the aid of a electrophoretic procedure. Introduction of staphylococcus antiphagin into general medical prac- tice proceeds in an entirely unsatisfactory manner in Chelyabinsk, the Voronezh, Orel, Tomsk, and Ryazan' oblasts, the Udmurt ASSR, and the Yakut ASSR. The FSFSR Dermato-Venerological Institute, oblast dermato-venerolog- ical institutes, and chairs of skin diseases and venerological diseases at medical institutes do not pay sufficient attention to scientific problems connected with this matter. To carry on an effective fight against pyogenic skin diseases in in- dustry and agriculture, cooperation between dermatologists, surgeons, and physicians of village hospitals is necessary. Better results will be achieved if physicians work in close contact with factory committees, mine committees, and industrial safety specialists. It is essential that dermato-venerological institutes, chairs of skin diseases, and oblast dispensaries include in their scientific programs the treatment of problems dealing with the therapy and prophylaxis of pyogenic skin diseases. 9 NSRB FBI DISTRIBUTION Declassified in Part - Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2011/10/31 CIA-RDP80-00809A000700040342-6
