V. ORADOV The book describes hydraulic engineering methods used In organizing and carrying out work on rural hydroelectric power stations in the USSR. It is prescribed for the course on "Organization and Production in Hy- draulic Engineering Prefects," approved by the Ministry of Agriculture USSR for technical schools concerned with hydroelectric stations for agriculture. The engineering structures built in connection with "water-economy" mea- sures are called "hydraulic engineering structures"; and the work involved in their construction is known as "hydraulic engineering construction," which is a component of construction practice as a whole. Water-economy is the system of measures designed to make use of natural water resources. It includes hydraulic engineering methods of soil improve- ment (irrigation, draining, sprinkling), water transport (river) lake, and maritime shipping, and routes for floating); sanitary hydraulic engineering (water supply and sewerage), the use of water for power, the economic utili- zation of the useful contents of waters (pisciculture), and others. n NAW NSRB FBI RESTRICTED.
