After ~ September 1944, the construction oi' electric power plants vas greatly intensified. The following plants were constructed: the "Pleven" Dieeel Electric Power Pant, the "Koynare" 11,ydroelectrlc Power Plant, the "Kalin" Hydroelectric Power Plant, the "Falkovets" Micro Hydroelectric Power Pleat, the "Madzhur" Micro Hydroelectric Power Plant, and the "Khubcha" Micro Hydroelectric Power Plant. Before 1950, the construction of the "Sta11n" Steam Heat and Electric Power Plant vas begun and additional boilers for the "Kurilo" and the "Y. Kolarov" steam heat and electric pover plants were delivered. During the first half of 1951, the following hydroelectric pover plants were put into operation: "TScha," "Asenitsa," "Tuzha," "Vidima," and "Petrovo." During the ,:ond half of 1951, additional units of the "Stalin" and "DSmitrovo" steam heat and electric power plants began operation. The capacity oP the Stalin" Plant is 100 million kllovatt-hours per year. The high-tension pover lines Kurilo - Plovdiv and Kurilo - Mezhdra - Cherven Bryag -Pleven were also completed during the second half of 1951. Between 9 September 1944 and the middle of 1951, the country's electric pover vas increased ?9 percent. On 9 September 1951, the "Republica" Steam Heat and Electric Power Plant will start operating and eventually will produce 500,000 kilowatt-hours of pover. Thy "Republika" Plant will have a generating capacity of 25,000 kilowatts with the first unit of turbines. When the second unit is put into operation, the plant will have a capacity of 50,000 kilowatts. The following steam heat and electric power plants will also be completed: the "Maritsa ;" ~ov "Vulko Chervenkov'J at Dimitrovgrad and the "Vasil Kolarov." _ 1 _ CDNFIDE~AE Declassified in Part - Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2011/10/31 CIA-RDP80-00809A000700040661-2 Declassified in Part - Sanitized Copy Approved for "Razloge"f 'geliiIsk~droelectric pover pleats are nearing com letl A " CONFI~AI, CONfIDEN11Al senitsa 2, Pleat. ~ "Kitka" and a section oP theonVucha?
