(1) Harvesting of potatoes in the republic is to be completed by 10 October, and of sugar beets by 20 October. As of 1 October, Saunas Oblast had completed the 1951 plan for delivery to the state of potatoes by only 2.6 percent.(2) Belorussian SSR The area planted to potatoes in the republic in 1951 was over 100,000 hec- tares larger than prevar.(3) Spring grains were sown to 200,000 more hectares this year than in 1950, and flax sown to 40,000 more hectares in 1951 than in 1950.(4) The 1951 plan for draining marshland in the republic was fulfilled 106.5 percent by mid-October. (27) Oroznyy Oblast sowed twice the area to cotton in 1951 that it did in 1950. However, the crop has not been well cared for, and harvest prospects are poor.(28) for of 1 October, kolkhozes of Leningrad Oblast had fulfilled the 1951 plan fo.6 aging potatoes 30 percent.
