THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION BIOORAPFIIC DATA ON NEW OFFICIALS NEW?SLOVAH OFFICIALS -- Prague, Obrana Lidu, 21 Sep 51 Rudolf Strecaj, the new Slovak Commissioner for Justice, is 37 years old. Coming from a working-class family, he is a deputy to the National Assembly and a member of the Central Committee of the Slovak Communist Party. After complet- ing 4 years of high school, he worked as a construction laborer and then studied typography. In 1935, he made an educational trip to the Soviet Union. In Sep- tember 1941, he was arrested for illegal activity and imprisoned for 31 years. He was as active participant in the Slovak national uprising. After the liberal tion, he became chairman of the okres national committee in Ruzomberok, deputy to the Temporary National Assembly, regional secretary of the Slovak Communist Party at Bratislava, and since 1949 he has been president of the kraj national committee in Zilina. Merck Culen, the new Slovak Commissioner for Agriculture, is 64 years old. He is a deputy to the National Assembly, president of the United Federation of Slovak Farmers, and a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Slovakia. He comes from a working-class family and trained to be a wheelwright. In 1906, he emigrated-to the US, where he worked as a laborer in Chicago and other cities. Re'returned to Czechoslovakia in 1919, working as a laborer and at the same time operating a swell farm. In 1925, he was elected a deputy. In 1939, he was interned for 3 months in Ilava, after which he emigrated to the Soviet Union. In 194141 he flew from Moscow to Banska Bystrica to participate actively in the Slovak national uprising. Frantisek Tupik, the new Slovak Commissioner for Forestry and the Wood- working Industry, is 41 years old. Heretofore, he has been manager of the first department in charge of national committees in the Slovak Commission for the In- terior. He is a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Slo- vakia in Bratislava. He comes from a working-class family and completed secon- dary school, after which he learned typesetting. In 1930, he joined the Social Democratic Party from which he was expelled in 1934 for advocating a united front with the Communists. During the occupation he worked as a typesetter in Trnava. He performed illegal work and in 1940 was imprisoned at Ilava for 33, months for political activity. He is general secretary Of the Party of Slovak Rebirth, deputy to the National Assembly, and Chairman of Catholic Action in Slovakia. In 1945, he Joined the Slovak Demo- cratic Party, but when this party became reactionary, he publicly denounced its Policy and in retaliation was relieved of his position as Lord Mayor of Bratis- lava and expelled from party. In February 1948, he was one of the leaders in the formation of the Party of Slovak Rebirth. Peter Marueiak, the new Slovak Commissioner for the Food industry, is 43 Years Old. He is a deputy to the National Assembly and a member of the kraj com- mittee of the Slovak Communist Party iL Zilina. He comes from a farming family. After graudation from teachers college in 1931, he taught until 1938 in various pL ces in Slovakia. During the existence of the Slovak State, he was illegally active and participated in the Slovak national uprising. Recently, he was mana- ger of Group III of the Slovak State Planning Cffice. CZEC RECALL AMBASSADOR FROM MOSCOW -- Chicago, Denni Hlasatel, 16 Jan 52 The Czechoslovak government recalled Ambassador Karel Kreibich from Moscow on 12 January. Kreibich was the last Jewish diplomat to be recalled. During the last few months all top officials of Jewish origin in Czechoslovakia have been arrested or have completely disappeared. The Communist press in Czechoslovakia has recently begun campaigning against the "Jewish bourgeoisie," asserting that Israel is a spy center. NEWLY NAMED MINISTERS TAKE OATH OF OFFICE -- Prague, Rude Pravo, 23 Dec 51 Upon the recommendation of Prime Minister Antonin Zarotocky the following new ministers were named by President Gottwald and took the oath of office to- day. Dr Jaromor Dolansky was named Deputy Prime Minister. He has seen the Chairman of the State Planning Office. Engr Jozef Pucik, who is the Minister of Chemical Industry, was named Chairman of the State Planning Office. Engr Otto Simunek, who is deputy Minister for the Chemical Industry, was made Minister of the Chemical Industry. Antonin Pospisil, the General Secretary of the Czechoslovak People's Party, was appointed Minister of Transportation.
