THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION
The Statistics Administration Turkmen SSR reports that Turkmen industry
fulfilled the 195 gross-production plan 101 percent, including 98 percent by
union industry and 103 percent by republic industry.
Fulfillment of the 1951 plan by oblasts was as follows: Ashkhabad Oblast -
97 percent, including 103 percent for Ashkhabad City; Mary Oblast - 110 percent;
Tashauz Oblast - 81 percent, and "hardzhou Oblast - 104 percent.
Industrial enterprises of Mary Oblast, while fulfilling the 1951 gross-
production plan, failed to meet the plan for production of the items indicated;
line, roofing tile, galvanized ironware, carts and other vehicles, it under-
wear and but outerwear, hosiery, cotton fabric, and leather outerwear-
Industrial enterprises of Chardzhou Oblast failed to meet the plan for the
following items: coal, fired brick, lime, roofing tile, carts and other vehi-
cles, footwear and hard leather goods.
Gross production in 1951 increased 24 percent in comparison with 1950, in-
cluding 12 percent for union industry and 29 percent for republic industry.

The following Turkmen ministries and organizations, while fulfilling the
gross-production plan, failed to meet the plan for production of the items ir-
dicated: Ministry of Light Industry -- knit outerwear, cotton fabric, jute
fiber, and fired brick; Ministry of Cotton Growing -- cotton fiber; Ministry
if rood Industry -- vegetable oil, nonalcoholic beverages, canned goods, and
salt mining; Ministry of Local Industry -- cast-iron goods, galvanized iron-
ware, carts and other vehicles. lime, footwear, e=d R number of products of
the rurniture industry; Turkmen Council of Industrial Cooperatives -- hard
leather goods and leather outerwear, hosiery, knit outerwear, footwear, con-
fectionery products, macaroni products, fired brick, lime, ironware, and carts
and other vehicles; Invalids' Cooperatives -- hard leather goods and leather
outerwear, confectionery products, nonalcoholic beverages, and fish catch.
In 1951, the following enterprises, while fulfillin6 the gross-production
plan, failed to meet the plan for production of chief types of goods: con-
struction materiels plants No 2, No 5, No 6, and No 7, Spinning and Weaving
Factory imeni Dzerzhinskiy, Ashkhabad Knitwear Factory, Chardzhou Sewing Fac-
tory, driving-belt factory, Mary Cotton-Ginning Plant, furniture factory,
"Krasnyy Molot" Plant, and vehicle-repair plant.
The following enterprises failed co fulfill the gross-production plan:

Meat Combine, Chardzhou Meat Combine, Ashkhabad Dairy and Refrigerator Com-

As a result of a further increase in agricultural equipment, the mechani-
zation level of agricultural work in kolkhozes of the republic was improved in
1951.
In 1951, MPS completed 64 percent more agricultural work in k,)lkhozes
than in 1950.
The sawn area of the basic industrial crop, cotton, increased 7 percent
in 1951 in comparison with 1950. Cultivation of cotton plants was carried c..t
within the period prescribed by scientific agricultural practices.
In 1951, Turkmen kolkhozes, as a result of socialist competition, had a
large yield of cotton and fulfilled the state cotton procurement plan ahead of
schedule. More than 70 percent of the cotton delivered was high grade.
The 1951 plan for retail commodity turnover was fulfilled 100.6 percent,
including 100.5 percent for turnover in the retail trade system and 102 percent
for turnover in public eating enterprises.

As a result of a further improvement in the workers' prosperity and the
new r .uction of state retail prices on food and industrial goods, effective
1 March 1951, sales of goods in state and cooperative trade increased consi-
derably.
Sales of farm products in kolkhoz markets increased in 1951 in comparison
with 1950.
