The RO (Trade Organization) received 30 carloads of fresh eggs, 42 carloads of cherries and blueberries, and two carloads of canned fish from the People's Republic of Poland.(6) 25 July From 15 to 21 July 1951, 30 carloads of beef and pork arrived from the USSR in Frankfurt/Oder for transshipment to the Laender of the OR. The people-owned Patent-Lineol Factory in Brandenburg Havel received 20 tons of thin m al plate from the USSR during the same period. (7) 8 August On 4 and 5 August 1951, 24 carloads of butter, 12 carloads of rendered but- ter, and 5 carloads of lard from the USSR arrived in Frankfurt Oder for distri- bution in the Laender of the GDR.(8) 22 August Twenty-four carloads of butter, two carloads of rendered butter, five car- loads of lard, and 60 tons of tea from the USSR have arrived in Frankfurt/Oder. During the same time, 12 carloads of high-grade strawberry pulp for pro- cessing by the marmalade industry arrived from Poland.(11) 12 September From 3 to 8 September 1951, 70 carloads of butter, 14 carloads of rendered butter, and three carloads of lard arrived in Frankfurt/Oder from the USSR. In addition, the USSR delivered 18 carloads of rice and 10 tons of tea. During the same period, Poland shipped 75 carloads of fruit and vege- tables.(12) L9_2 e Member From 7 to 13 September 1951, 33 carloads of butter,.8 carloads of rendered butter, 14 carloads of lard, and 11 carloads of rice arrived in Frankfurt/Oder from the USSR. During the same period, Poland and the Scandinavian countries shipped 36 tons of bacon and 813 tons of fish to the GDR.(14) 27 September From 21 to 24 September 1951, eight carloads of butter, four carloads of rendered butter, and two carloads of lard arrived in Frankfurt/Oder from the USSR. During the same time, 32 carloads of fruits and vegetables were received from Poland.(15) From 1 to 20 September 1951, 81 carloads of imported fresh and frozen meat arrived in Leipzig from Hungary, Denmark, and the Netherlands. During the same period, several carloads of fats, including two carload, of high-quality rendered butter, arrived in Leipzig from the USSR.(16) 4 October From 24 to 29 September 1951, 26 carloads of butter, 17 carloads of rendered butter, and four carloads of lard from the USSR arrived in Frankfurt/Oder. During the same period, three carloads of canned meat for distribution by the HO arrived from Poland.(17) 14 October During the last 2 weeks, the ships Helgoland and Thy7ana unloaded in Ros- tock 2,743 head of beef cattle from Denmark. 18 October From 12 to 15 October 1951, 16 carloads of butter, rendered butter, and lard, and three carloads of tea arrived in Frankfurt/Oder from the USSR. In addition, 14 carloads of fresh and canned fish and 16 carloads of fruits and vegetables from Poland arrived in Frankfurt/Oder.(19) 20 October From Jtily to September 1951, the GDR imported 290 tons of meat from Den- mark, 145 tons from Hungary, and 78 tone from Bulgaria. A total of 484 ton, of butter were received from Denmark, Sweden, and Holland.(20) 21 October ietveen July and September 1951, Sachsen-Anbalt received 55,250 tons of food mPorts, mainly from the USSR. The USSR ehipp_d over 47,000 tone of grain, 1,038 tons of most, 633 tons of butter, 141 tons of rendered butter, 390 tons of slaughter fat, 1,206 tone of oily grains, and 436 tons of crude oil.(21) Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2011/10/06: CIA-RDP80-00809A000700060042-7 Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2011/10/06: CIA-RDP80-00809A000700060042-7 From 14 to 20 October 1951, .j.2 carloads of butter from the USSR and 24 car- loads of fresh fish, 3 carloads of canned fish, ana 2 carloads of poultry from Poland arrived et Frankfurt/Odor.(22) 27 October From 1 to 20 October 1951, Leipzig received 13 carloads of butter and 20 carloads of rendered butter from the USSR, 25 carloads of beef from Denmark, and one carload of poultry from Hungay.(23) 31 October From 21 to 27 October 1951, 18 carloads of butter, two carloads of rendered bitter, and two carloads of tea arrived in Frankfurt/Oder from the USSR. During the same period four carloads of poultry, six carloads of fresh fish, and four carloads of fruits and vegetables were received from Poland.(24) 31 October During the third quarter of 1951, 131 tons of high-grade beef and 94 tons of pork arrived at the slaughterhouses and stockyards in Chemnitz from the USSR, Hungary,, and Bulgaria. During October 1951, Chemnitz received 108 tons of meat from Bulgaria.(25) 11 November During the first 9 months of 1951, Land Sachsen-Anhalt received 150 million kilograms of food from the USSR, including 2,617,000 kilograms of butter, 490,000 kilograms of bacon, 841 000 kilograms of rendered butter, 4,667,000 kilo- ;rams of oil, and 4,170,000 kii..grams of meat.(24) 14 November Poland shipped 15 carloads of butter, 4 carloads of rendered butter, 3 car- loads of lard, 3 carloads of edible oil, and 3 carloads of poultry to Frankfurt.,' Oder.(27) 21 November The USSR shipped 23 carloads of edible oil, four carloads of butter, and three carloads of lard to Frankfurt/Oder.(28) 28 November From 18 to 24 November 1951, 20 carloads of edible oil, ten carloads of butter,and flva carloads of beef from the USSR arrived at Frankfurt/Oder. During the same period, Poland shipped 9 carloads of poultry, one carload of fresh meat, nd seven carloads of vegetables for the HO stores. During the same week, 21 carloads of poultry and ten carloads of fruits ar- rived from Poland-(33) 20 December Last week, 28 carloads of edible oil from the USSR arrived at Frarlcfurt During the same period, Poland supplied 38 carloads of fowl, eight carloads of fresh carp, and 12 carloads of apples.(34) DI PORTS OF RAW W TERIALS FOR THE TEXTILE INDUSTRY Large quaiitl.Lies of natural silk from the People's Republic of China have been received by the Tannenberg Artificial Silk Mills and by the Derga/Elster Thread Mills. T'he material will be converted into sewing thread.(35) 25 August From 1 to 22 August 1951, 100 carloads of USSR raw wool arrived at the Leipzig Wool-Carding Plant. The Leipzig Cotton Mills received 27 carloads of cottcn from the USSR.(36) 19 SeF;;ember During the first half of September 1951, 25 carloads of high_grade unproc- eased wool from the USSR were received by the Leipzig Wool-Carding Plant for distribution to the various processing industries. At the same time, four car- loads of amprocesseA w--o1 from. (43) 2 January 52 At the end of December 1951, 50 carloads of uncarded wool arrived at the Leipzig Wool-Carding Plant. The wool will be shipped to the carded yarn and felt plants in Sachsen and Thueringen.(44) 14 July The first trainload of high-grade ore has arrived at the Oat Metallurgical Combine near Fuerstanberg/Oiler from the Krivoy Rog mining region in the USSR.(45) 19 July From 8 to 19 July 1951, the Ost Metallurgical Combine received 72 carloads of, iron ore from the USSR. (46) 24? July The first 15 carloads of coke from Poland have arrived at the Cst Metal- lurgical Combine. The USSR also .sup '4 220 additional carloads of iron ore. (47) 28 July A total of 600 tons of coke, consisting of 31 carloads from the USSR and two carloads from Poland, have arrived in Eisleben.(48) -6- RESTRI(,TED STAT Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2011/10/06: CIA-RDP80-00809A000700060042-7 Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2011/10/06: CIA-RDP80-00809A000700060042-7 r August From 5 to 8 August 1951, 500 carloads of iron ore from the USSR arrived in Frankfurt/Oder for transshipment to the Oat Metallurgical Combine in Puersten- berg/Oder.(49) 28 August On 26 August, 1,200 tons of USSR coke from the Donets Basin and 450 tons of coke from Poland and Czechoslovakia arrived at Eisleben. The shipments were earmarked for the Wilhelm Pieck Combine in Mansfeld.(50) 10 November During the last few days, six carloads of structural steel, anchor chains, metal pipes, and steel bars arrived at Rostock harbor from the USSR. In October 1951, the USSR supplied 18 carloads of this material to the shipbuilding- indus- try.(51) The Chemnitz Gasworks received 3,000 tons of black coal from Poland during the last few Pays. This makes a total of 45,000 tons of coal which Poland has supplied since the beginning of 1951.(52) 7 December Freighters from the USSR unloaded 14,000 tons of steel and iron plates, copper, manganese, and asbestos, to be used for shipbuilding, at Mecklenburg Ports. In addition, 100 carloads of Soviet shipbuilding materials, structural steel, anchor chains, iron pipes, and round steel bars were shipped by the USSR to Rostock.(53) 4 ranuar 52 More than 830 carloads of high-grade iron from the USSR and Hungary were received by the Lippendorf Ferroalloy Plant near Leipzig at the end of December. (54) Ju 27 Eight carloads of first-quality bristles and a large order of badger hair arrived in Leipzig from the People's Republic of China. The material will be used for the manufacture of brushes.(55) 3 August The third shipment of high-grade casings from China arrived at the Mark- neukirchen people-owned catgut and string factory during the past few days. Most of the surgical thread and strings for musical instruments made from ear- lier shipments have already been distributed.(56) 25 August Large shipments of hemp from the People's Republic of China have arrived in the GDR.
