Contrary to reports?from the Albanian Telegraph Agency and Radio Tirana
stating that the tire Ut-thm pates-oil fields has been put out, the fact is
that it has been only partly exting b d.
Radio Tirana said'that some warehouses had been saved. This is true,
but it is not true that the fire is extinguished and that the damage is
slight. Losses are incalculable because of the impossibility of foreseeing
when the flames fed by the. oil wells can be quenched.
For propaganda purposes, the Tirana authorities have broadcast optimistic
reports minimizing the significance of the affair because the ins' lation in-
volved is completely under the control of,Soviet technicians.
