PRECISION INSTRU.NT FACTORY MANUFACTURES NEW PRODUCTS -- Zagreb, Borba,
26 Oct 51
Belgrade, 25 October --.The Precision Equipment Factory in Belgrade is
nearing the fulfillment of its year plan for the manufacture of new products.
The factory has already completed the serial production of some automobile
equipment as planned, including temperature gauges, gasoline gauges, housings
for tire pressure gauges, and grease guns. The Maribor Autombile Factory will
consequently be able to decrease significantly its import of these items.
Delay in the production of carburetors, one of the factory's most im-
portant products, occurred because the "Masinoprojekt" (Machinery Planning)
Bureau in Belgrade was almost 2 months late with its designs for the pro-
duction of tools. However, the factory now has the completed designs and
is producing the tools, and estimates that by the end of 1951 a prototype
and'test series of carburetors will be completed.
. Thus far, 70 percent of the tools for the manufacture of distributors
for six-cylinder e:rgines have been produced. The first series of distribu-
tors is to be completed by the end of 1951. However, distributor production
was delayed because the "Meba" Enterprise in Zagreb failed to deliver on
schedule a pattern for bakelite caps, and the "Rekord" Rubber Products Fac-
tory delivered insulation ffor the distributor wires7 which could not be used
because of its poor durability.
.In 1951 the factory had also planned to produce the "Spike" pump un-
identified7 for the Ansaldo tractor, but because delivery of technical de-
signs from It..ly was delayed, production has had to be deferred until 1952.
"SATURNUS" FACTORY PRODUCES NEW PRODUCTS -- Zagreb, Borba, 18 Dec 51
Ljubljana, 16 December -- A new section, recently put in operation in
the "ISaturnus" Factory in Ljubljana, has begun serial production of a large
variety of metal packaging materials, such as boxes, containers, and tubes.

The factory also produces many standard aluminum articles. In 1951, it
produced about 200,000 kitchen utensils, 27,000 pumps, 4,000 mirrors, and
more than 6,000 automobile signal lights. It also produces electric hotplates,
electric stoves, and automobile parts. The first series of 2,000 reflectors
for automobile lights is being completed now.
Although the factory had difficulty in obtaining tin plate, it produced
more than 90 million dinars' worth of goods in 1951.
The "Saturnus." Factory is preparing to begin serial pre uction of main
bicycle parts by January 1952.
GLASS FACTORY TO INCREASE CAPACITY FOURFOLD -- Belgrade, Borba, 15 Jan 52
Paracin, 14 January -- By enlarging the factory and installing new
equipment, the Glass Factory in Paracin is to increase its present capa-
city fourfold. A new 120-meter-long shop has been completed in which new
equipment i achased abroad is to be installed. To date, two installations
of a projected eight have been installed, thus increasing the production
of flasks and glasses. Formerly, 50 workers were required to produce
20,000 glasses in 24 hours; the new installations make it possible for four
workers to do the work of 50.
When all the projected installations are in operation, only expensive
and high-quality glt;a prodt..:ts are to be produced manually. The new shop
will thus be completely mechanized, so 50 workers will be able to produce
four times as much as 1,000 workers formerly produced.
