THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION During the postwar years, the Kuznetsk Metallurgical Combine has achieved & .number of important results in the-struggle for technical progress. Several serious technical problems were. solved, including the development and intro- duction of a high-speed method of blast-furnace reconstruction,. & marked improve- ment in fine grinding of coking coal, an improvement in-the crushing and con- centrating of iron ore, improved neutralization of ores, automatization of pro- duction processes in metallurgical shops, and especially`of-heat conditions in open-hearth furnaces, and a.perfectioit of blooming-shop operations. FURNACES HAVE HIGHEST OUTPUT IN WORLD -- Moscow, Izvestiya, 3 Apr 52 The-open-hearth furnaces of the Kuznetsk Metallurgical Combine have the highest annual output in the world. For example, furnaces of equal capacity in the USA produce 30,000 tons of steel less than the furnaces of the Kuznetsk Combine. The shingling shop has achieved remarkable results. The'productivity of similar machines in the USA is 50 percent below that of the Kuznetsk-shingling mills. Much has been achieved by miners of the Kuznetsk Metallurgical Combine. During the first years of operation, the blast furnaces of the plant used duly 10 percent of local ore in the furnace charge, whereas now this per.:entage nas been increased 7-8 times, thereby eliminating the necessity of shipping-large .quantities of Magnitogorsk ore to Kuznetsk.
