The cartoons manifest a ands d effort to sustain the high degree of emotionalism with which US was propaganda bas been presented to domestic Chinese audiences. Five political cartoons appeared in the 6, 9, 11, 14, and 17 June 1952 issues of the Ranking newspaper; of these, two treated of the prisoner of war incidents on Koje Island, two repeated bacteriological warfare allegations, and one desith nimaltaneoasiy with both issues. Three cartoons originated in Soviet papers and two esee from Chinese Cotsmunist sources. The was directed against lending US political and military officialsp~esidentck Truman, Secretary of State Acheson, General Ridgway, and General Clark. Rele- vant information on each of the five cartoons appears below. 1. Title: "Two Cuffs on the Bar" Source: Nanking Hsin-hua , 6 June 1952 Description: President Truman end Secretary of State Acheson, in earl- cature, standing before a microphone.
