The opening of the ,new hospital is au important event in Sioo-Soviet cultural relations. The inaugural ceremorRy was attended by some 2W prominent persona, iacl?~ing P'cng Chen, Li Te-ch'uan, P'eng Tse-min, Chen Ch'i-yuua, end Amt~nsssdor Raschin. The hospital is divided into outpatieni sad inpgtient xards and has the folloxing departments: internal medicine, e?.irgery, rerebral neurology, eye diseases, dentistiy,ophthe?lmology, dermatology and venereal diseases, obste- trics and gynecology, physical therapy, and pulmonary tuberculosis. The equip- ment oP the hospital includes: deep therapy, X-ray machine, fad?rect X-ray photo machine, and blood-vessel suturing apparatus.(1) The present temporary hospital building, located at Kan-shut Chieh, has 80 beds. It will be opened for outp?tieats on 23 June and for inpatients on 2~ June. It x111 treat 20G outpatleats daily. When facilities are expanded, it viii be able to handle 3oG outpatleate. Meanwhile, the construction of a near 20J-bed hospital is baing planned. For the time being, the inpa'cient Hard viii not take in chronic cases, patieuts with infectious diseases, chil- dren helm! 13 years of age, and expectant mothers.(2) Becauoe of limited space, patients applying for hospitalization in the i~atient card must present a letter of recoamendation from a designated health agency.
