BOOSTING OF PRODUCERS' COOPERATIVES IN HUNGARY /Comment: The following items are typical of a large number of articles appearing in the Hungarian press recently, propagandizing the producers' cooperatives. The volume of the propaganda suggests a possible resumption of pressure on the independent peasants in an effort to force them into cooperatives. Numbers in parentheses refer to appended sources) New Cooperatives Organized Within the last 3 devc. 13 new producers' cooperatives were organized in Bekes Megye. Altogether, 1,114 members with 1,266 dependents aad with 6,627 cadastral yokes of land joined the new cooperatives. The entrants included 299 middle peasants.(l) Independent Peasants Favorable to Cooperatives The independent peasants of I1elykut have been following the programs of the two local producers' cooperatives with great interest and have become convinced of the favorable results achieved.(2) Methods, Results of Cooperatives Superior Crop results of the producers' cooperatives are, as a rule, s"perior to those of independent peasants. The independent peasants have noticed especially that the cooperatives were able to fulfill or even exceed their plans this year, despite unfavorable weather conditions.
